Twitter goes down for many users on Tuesday morning

Twitter users reported that the social media site was down on Tuesday morning, with the Downdetector website showing a huge spike in reports of problems in the UK.

Reports that the website and app were experiencing technical difficulties started flooding in to Downdetector from around 1am on Tuesday morning. It appeared to mainly be affecting people using twitter via the website and a computer - but did not affect all users who were doing so.

Twitter, which was recently bought by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, is yet to comment on why users experienced issues, WalesOnline report s. However, the issue seems to have been quickly resolved with reports on the Downdetector website rapidly reducing at around 3am.

Downdetector said the chart below "shows a view of problem reports submitted in the past 24 hours compared to the typical volume of reports by time of day". "It is common for some problems to be reported throughout the day. Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day. "

One Twitter user said: "Twitter went down on PC tonight. Time for self care." Another wrote: "Ok so PC Twitter is down. I thought my internet was funky."

And a third person posted a photo of their screen which displayed the error message "Nothing to see here". They wrote: "Is Twitter down on PC? It works on my cell just fine. But on my computer I keep getting this..."
