Twitter exploded after Tom Brady made an April Fools joke about retirement

Tom Brady joined Twitter on April Fools’ Day. His arrival was a dramatic one. The New England Patriots quarterback announced his retirement from the NFL, a declaration which is clearly an April Fools prank.

Brady has said endlessly that he intends to play until he’s at least 45 years old. He’s not going anywhere, and he’s definitely not announcing the end of his historical career with a brief tweet.

“I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting ,” Brady wrote on Twitter on Monday.

OK, Tom. You got us.

While the dad joke was brutal in its delivery, Brady’s message caused quite a stir. First of all, even the company, Twitter, took note of the tweet.

And yes, Patriots fans and media members had a lot of thoughts and feelings about the tweet.
