Twitter down for users across Edinburgh as many unable to access website or refresh app

Edinburgh Twitter users are facing issues accessing both the social media application and website this morning, as reports have surfaced that the platform has crashed.

Thousands of users have reported problems getting onto the website, or refreshing the application - with some home pages showing tweets from days ago.

According to the DownDetector.co.uk website, there have been a total of 5,280 reports of Twitter crashing in the last twenty minutes alone, with the app spiking on the website at 10:15am.

Reports spiked at 10:15am, increasing from 15 to 3,413 in just 15 minutes - reports have since risen to over 5,000 in an hour.

It is not known what has caused the issue that appears to have begun at around 10am but the problem has continued to persist for around an hour.

The owners of the app have yet to provide an update on the service outage at this time.
