Pickles: you love them or you hate them. The briney, juicy and succulent delicacy — most commonly in cucumber form — is a polarising topic of conversation. If you’re one to order your Macca’s cheeseburger and stress to remove all traces of pickle, you probably won’t love what I’m about to tell you. Aussie snack brand Twisties has officially launched a pickle flavour.
From girl dinner to boy kibble, the snacks-for-dinner aesthetic is entering its picklecore era. According to Twisties’ research, 58 per cent of Australians love pickles. In fact, one in five Gen Z survey respondents would go so far as to call their love for the briney cucumber an obsession.
So, as all good snacks do, Twisties has decided to hop on the bandwagon, turning a slimey and messy snack into a powdery, slightly less messy snack. Because why eat real pickles when you can eat an arguably yummier artificial version?
Word has already gotten out, and people are hopping on TikTok to post their first impressions.
“It really doesn’t have any of that ‘oomph’ pickle taste, more the base notes of the pickle,” TikToker Liana Dam said, adding: “I could smash a bag of these.”
“The perfect amount of twang and pickle taste coming through,” another TikToker said.

Twisties’ recent limited edition flavours have been on the sweeter side, including a Zooper Dooper Fairy Floss flavour (yuck, in my personal opinion). So, this is a win for the savoury baddies.
It’s definitely a more aesthetic way to indulge in the flavours of a pickle in public. Over a quarter of Gen Zs (26 per cent) think it’s unacceptable to raw dog pickles in public, and 37 per cent find themselves to be self-conscious towards the phallic-looking snack, worried that it’ll garner them ‘weird looks from the public’ or that their friends will think they’re gross.
At the moment, it’s exclusively available in 7-Eleven until April 30. After that, it’ll be rolled out to supermarkets nationally.
It’s around for a good time, not a long time, so if you wanna try the flavour for yourself, you know where to go.
