Twisted thug caught on video ordering his dog to kill a cat is hunted by police

Police hunting a sicko who was caught on CCTV setting his dog on a cat which was mauled to death have released a picture of the prime suspect.

Amos Price, 30, is being hunted by detectives after shocking footage showed a pet cat being savaged before being dumped in a wheelie bin.

The cat's devastated owner Gary Truefitt discovered the harrowing footage when his pet, named Cleo, failed to come home on October 24.

After checking his CCTV he witnessed horrifying footage of his cat, which he had owned for eight years, being savaged to death.

The clip shows a man in a cap and hooded jacket, approaching the home in Woodlands Crescent, Walsall, West Midlands, with his lurcher-type dog.

He is then seen deliberately goading the dog to attack the cat, which is perched on a wall, by shining a torch in its face.

The callous thug even lifts the dog up to help it carry out the brutal killing and the cat is yanked from the wall and onto the ground.

The crazed dog then sinks its jaws into Cleo, shakes her from side to side, and drags her off camera while the dog owner legs it away from the scene.

West Midlands Police have now issued a mugshot of Amos who is wanted in connection with the fatal attack.

Chief Superintendent Andy Parsons said: "This is a horrifying act of cruelty which has left us utterly disgusted.

"I'm aware of the appalling CCTV that captured this shocking behaviour which, like the rest of the community, I wholly condemn.

"I realise this is highly emotive but I'd urge people to remain calm and help us by coming forward with information on his whereabouts."

Cleo's devastated owner Gary Truefitt, 60, said the yob dumped the carcass of his beloved pet in his wheelie bin.

The car park machine operator, who has two children and three grandchildren, said: "Why is the dog owner doing this to cats?

"It's not a wild animal, it's a pet he's deliberately killed.

"It happened at about 10.50pm, and I only realised at about 7pm the next day.

"I think he may have put her body in a wheelie bin. Its disgusting what he has done.

"I would like him to go to prison and not be allowed to own an animal or take a dog for a walk.

"My concern is that dog goes after fluffy animals. If there's a baby in a pram with a fluffy toy, it might go for that.

"He is basically training the dog to kill.

"He shouldn't be allowed to do that. He needs to be stopped from owning animals.

"Cleo was ten, and was black, white and grey. She was lovely and I'm devastated to have lost her in this way.

"I started looking after her for a friend, his girlfriend was allergic so they let me keep her in the end. She was a great cat, very daft, but I'll miss her."
