A vulnerable elderly couple chased crooks out of their home after they conned their way inside and went through their belongings.
The man and woman, in their 80s, realised they had been duped by a pair of bogus callers after they had gained entry into their home in Renfrew on Saturday night.
The pair had answered the door to two men around 7.45pm, and were convinced to let them inside.
However, once they allowed them into their home in the town’s Lonehead area, they quickly realised they were not who they had claimed to be.
The elderly man confronted them and asked them to leave, however, not before the cruel con men had rifled through their belongings in a bid to find valuables.
They fled the scene before they were able to take anything, allowing the couple to call the police.
Officers in Renfrew have now launched an investigation to trace the two men who are both described as being aged 19 to 20.
One man was wearing a red NY cap and a dark-coloured tracksuit with a black face covering, while the other man wore a black NY cap, a dark tracksuit, black face covering and is described as being smaller in height than the other suspect.
