Twist in deal for Aston Villa and West Ham target, Derby County consider full-back - Championship rumours

Bristol City have a decision to make over the next two weeks as to whether or not bring in a new centre-back to cover for the injured Tomas Kalas and Nathan Baker.

Sunday's game against Sheffield Wednesday could go some way to answering that question, as a strong defensive showing could help convince head coach Dean Holden that further recruitment is not needed and providing Kalas returns, as a best-case scenario in 3-4 weeks, City will be just about alright.

But they don't have much time to get their house in order with the international deadline on October 5 and the domestic window closing 11 days later.

Meanwhile, many of their rivals are very much in the thick of getting business done and here are the latest transfer rumours from across the rest of the Championship ...

Benrahma twist

Fulham have moved to hijack Crystal Palace's move for Brentford ace Said Benrahma, according to the Daily Mail.

Palace are said to be in advanced talks about bringing Benrahma to Selhurst Park following the player's impressive form for the Bees with Aston Villa, West Ham and Brighton & Hove Albion previously linked.

However, Fulham have apparently entered the race at the 11th hour in a bid to get one over on their London rivals.

"Sportsmail understands representatives from the Craven Cottage club have been in touch with the player's advisors for an update on the status of Benrahma's protracted move to Palace, with a view to launching their own swoop," says the article.

Rams raid?

Derby County, Watford and Bournemouth have been linked with a move for former Reading defender Jordan Obita.

Obita is a free agent after leaving the Madejski Stadium at the end of last season and, according to The Sun, the Championship trio mentioned above are all interested in signing the left-back.

The article suggests Derby have identified Obita as an option in that area following the departures of Max Lowe and Scott Malone this summer.

Dennis deal done

Everton midfielder Dennis Adeniran has signed for Wycombe Wanderers on a season-long loan.

Adeniran has been at Goodison Park since the summer of 2017 and is in the final year of his current contract.  This is his first loan spell away from the Blues.

Adeniran has trained with Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team but is yet to make his senior breakthrough and started this season with the club’s under-23s.

“Dennis is an exciting young talent who has all the attributes to become a really important player for us this season,” said Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth.

Don't Knock it

Cardiff City are reported to be keen on a move for Fulham winger Anthony Knockaert.

According to Sky Sports, the Welsh side have made an enquiry about signing the player.

Knockaert has been an unused substitute in both of Fulham’s Premier League games so far this season following the club's promotion via the Championship play-offs.

He was on loan from Brighton last term but made the move to Craven Cottage permanent over the summer in a £10million deal.
