A CCTV video has now added a new layer to the investigation into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her marital home in Bhopal earlier this month. The footage, shared by Press Trust of India, captures her walking alone towards the terrace of the house shortly before she was later seen unconscious on the staircase landing.
The incident took place at the family’s residence in the Katara Hills area on May 12. The case has already triggered allegations of dowry harassment, counterclaims from the husband’s family, and an ongoing police investigation.
CCTV captures Twisha walking towards terrace
According to the CCTV footage shared by PTI, Twisha was seen climbing the staircase towards the terrace at around 7.20 am. She appeared to be alone in the video.
Nearly an hour later, three men, reportedly her husband Samarth Singh, a neighbour and a househelp, were seen trying to administer CPR to her on the staircase landing.
The footage also showed her mother-in-law Giribala Singh walking into a room before coming out moments later and heading downstairs.
As the CPR attempts appeared unsuccessful, the men were later seen carrying Twisha downstairs to a lower floor.
Husband absconding, police announce reward
Police said Samarth Singh, who works as a lawyer, is currently absconding. Authorities have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to him.
Investigators said the couple had met through a dating app in 2024 and got married in December 2025.
Case takes dramatic turn after mother-in-law’s claims
The case saw another twist on Monday after Giribala Singh publicly rejected allegations of dowry harassment and murder levelled by Twisha’s family.
The retired judge instead claimed that Twisha had a history of psychiatric treatment and substance abuse.
Giribala Singh alleged that Twisha had been receiving psychiatric counselling and was prescribed medicines “given to a schizophrenic patient”.
She also claimed that Twisha had admitted to consuming “large quantities of marijuana during pregnancy”.
In addition, Giribala Singh accused Twisha’s parents of pushing her into the glamour industry at a young age and later distancing themselves from her. She maintained that the family had tried to save Twisha after finding her hanging.
Police say SIT probe focused on FIR sections
Police officials said the allegations linked to Twisha’s alleged drug use were mentioned in the husband’s bail petition.
However, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap told PTI that the Special Investigation Team was examining the matter strictly under the sections mentioned in the FIR.
These include allegations related to dowry harassment and abetment to suicide.
What the CCTV timeline appears to show
The CCTV footage has now become one of the key pieces of evidence in the investigation. The visuals reportedly establish a sequence of events inside the house duri
ng the morning hours before Twisha was declared dead.
While the video does not capture what happened on the terrace, it shows movement inside the staircase area over a span of nearly an hour. Investigators are expected to examine whether the footage matches statements given by family members and others present in the house.
Social media and dating app connection draws attention
The revelation that Twisha and Samarth first connected through a dating app has also drawn widespread attention online, with many social media users discussing how quickly the relationship progressed into marriage.
Police sources said the couple married in December 2025, less than two years after meeting each other in 2024.
Family allegations and counter-allegations deepen mystery
The case has now turned into a battle of sharply opposing claims between the two families. While Twisha’s family has raised allegations linked to dowry harassment and suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, her in-laws have publicly denied wrongdoing.
The competing narratives have intensified public interest in the case, especially after the retired judge’s statements about Twisha’s mental health and alleged substance use surfaced in the media.
SIT likely to examine digital and medical records
With multiple claims emerging from both sides, investigators are expected to closely examine medical documents, digital communication records and CCTV footage as part of the probe.
Officials have maintained that the investigation will proceed on the basis of evidence collected under the FIR sections already invoked in the case.
