Twins trade Brian Dozier to Dodgers

The Twins sent Gold Glove second baseman Brian Dozier to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, a half-hour before the non-waiver trade deadline.

In return, the Twins will get veteran second baseman Logan Forsythe, Class AA outfielder Luke Raley and Class AA pitcher Devin Smeltzer, according to a report from MLB Network's Joel Sherman.

Forsythe, a 31-year-old with a .247 career batting average, will be a free agent after this season.

Dozier was with the Twins for seven seasons, hitting .248 with 167 home runs and 491 RBIs. He is in the final season of his contract, which pays him $9 million this year, and will be a free agent after the season.

He set an American League record for home runs by a second baseman in 2016 when he hit 42. He was an All-Star in 2015.
