A set of twins who were born 15 minutes apart will celebrate their birthdays on different days, months and years.
Little Alfredo and twin sister Aylin were born close to midnight on New Year's Day at Natividad Medical Center in California, USA.
Parents Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo, of Greenfield, welcomed their son Alfredo into the world at 11.45pm on New Year's Eve, 2021.
Their daughter Aylin arrived moments later at exactly midnight, weighing 5 lbs 14 oz, which means her birthday is technically the following day on January 1, 2022.
The twins' weight was also fractions apart, with Alfredo born weighing 6lb 1oz and his sister being born weighing 5lb 14oz.
Ms Madrigal said it is "crazy" that the twins have different birthdays but that she is happy her daughter arrived the following day.
The mum told how her family could not wait to meet the twins who have an older brother and two big sisters.
Entering the world at exactly midnight on January 1 made Aylin the first baby born at Natividad Medical Center and in Monterey County in 2022.
Dr Ana Abril Arias delivered the babies at the California hospital.
She told People : "This was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career.
"It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022. What an amazing way to start the New Year."
Around 120,000 twin births take place every year in the US, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It means twins make up more than three per cent of all US births but it is extremely rare for them to be born with different birthdays.
It has been estimated that the chance of twins being born in different years is about one in two million.
The twins are joining their two older sisters and one older brother. Madrigal said her older son was excited that one of the babies is a boy.
