Twenty-four die with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 at Erskine care homes for veterans

Twenty-four residents at Erskine care homes for ex-servicemen and women in Scotland are believed to have died from coronavirus.

As BBC Scotland reports, three residents at their care homes died after being diagnosed with the virus, while a further 21 passed away with suspected coronavirus.

The charity cares for over 300 residents at its four care homes - one of which is located in the Kelvindale area in the west end of Glasgow.

A further two homes are located in Bishopton in Renfrewshire, with another in Edinburgh.

Of Erskine's 770 staff, over 200 have had suspected coronavirus or live with someone who was suspected of having it - meaning they had to self-isolate.

Four staff members have also tested positive, with one requiring hospital treatment.

To date, 90 residents at Erksine's care homes have received treatment in isolation after showing symptoms of the virus, 18 of whom are continuing to be 'barrier nursed'.
