A further 1,299 people have tested positive for coronavirus with 12 more deaths recorded across the Bristol region.

The latest data means the total death toll across the region stands at 1,525.

Across the region the highest increase in Covid cases over the past day came in Bristol, with another 492 positive tests bringing the city's total infection count to 66,157.

As it stands, there are currently 476.3 cases per 100,000 people nationwide in the country.

The UK overall recorded an extra 44,958 cases and 135 deaths.

The data comes as many scientific advisors and experts have been urging Boris Johnson to review Covid measures despite a majority of the nation being double jabbed.

The PM responded by saying he is keeping a close eye on the current data.

Measures in a so called 'Step 2' plan include the reintroduction of face masks and communicating clearly to the public that the level of risk has increased, and the need to behave more cautiously.

Vaccine data for October 23rd is unable to be published due to a data issue.

Data for each region can be found below.

The total number of cases confirmed in each region around Bristol, with the daily rise in brackets, are as follows:

  • City of Bristol - 66,157 (+492)

  • North Somerset - 23,528 (+311)

  • South Gloucestershire - 34,956 (+389)

  • Bath and North East Somerset - 22,578 (+323)
