Twelve-foot-long Indian rock python rescued in Thane

THANE: Residents of Shanti Nagar at Wagle Estate in Thane were surprised to find a 12-foot-long Indian Rock Python in a drain near the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

A rescuer Aman Singh said that they got a call from a citizen who told them about a huge python on Saturday night.

"We had to reach the spot as scared citizens tend to kill the snake so we rescued it out of the nallah and followed the SOP of informing the forest department and carrying out the medical etc," he said.

Singh and his friends Sanket Bhangre Saurabh Tiwari had a tough time while the python's weight was to be taken. To their surprise, it weighed around 22 kgs.

The python was released in green zone by following the due procedures, said Singh.
