Twelfth of July Belfast parades details announced by Orange Order

Details of the Twelfth of July parades in Belfast have been announced by the Orange Order.

The County Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast said there will be six parades in Belfast for friends, supporters and spectators to enjoy.

In a statement they said the purpose of hosting a number of parades was to "ensure the tens of thousands who attend the Belfast Twelfth are dispersed across the city, reducing the potential for crowds gathering, thereby minimising the risk of Covid community transmission".

Parades will be held at:-

  • Carlisle Circus - Barnet’s Demise (No Return parade)
  • North Belfast
  • Ballynafiegh
  • South Belfast
  • Shankill
  • East Belfast

Details of the routes and times will be shared online.

In their statement, the Orange Order requested that spectators:

  • Choose one parade to attend
  • Spread out along the route - ensuring social distancing
  • Do not walk alongside or follow the parade
  • Wear masks as appropriate

It added: "We encourage all to have a great and enjoyable 12th July, but remember stay safe by obeying the Covid regulations.

"These arrangements are for one year only and we look forward to 2022 when God willing the County will again walk as one."
