Tweet summing up Manchester United's transfer window goes viral

Manchester United endured a tough 2018/19 season as they finished sixth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-finals stage.

But the summer transfer window has offered up a chance for the Red Devils to banish those memories to the past and build a side ready to challenge for trophies again next season.

And the Daniel James signing aside, it hasn't quite worked like that in the last few weeks. United have naturally been linked with an array of players as always but have failed to get any big names over the line.

United had a £40m bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected by Crystal Palace last week with the club continuing to pursue the defender.

This transfer saga has been going on since well before the window opened and in comparison to Real Madrid's efforts this summer in terms of bringing in players, United's efforts look bleak.

This is something perhaps best summed up by a hilarious tweet which has gone viral depicting United's efforts to sign Wan-Bissaka in relation to Madrid's ability to get deals over the line in quick succession. Los Blancos have already sealed the signings of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy.

A clip of Simpsons' characters bowling is used in the tweet above to show the difference between the sides, with Mr Burns' slow bowl summing up United's chase of Wan-Bissaka.

The clip gathered pace online, attracting as many as 9,000 likes. However, there is still a long way to go in the current transfer window.
