TV viewers react as Meath GAA great and 'legend' Bernard Flynn stars in Laochra Gael

TG4 viewers have praised Bernard Flynn after he starred in the latest episode of Laochra Gael tonight.

The legendary Meath footballer was the latest GAA great to star in the iconic documentary, and fans were taken on a trip down memory lane.

And recapping his incredible career with club and county, the documentary also touched on his battle with injuries, the collapse of his business and his [assion for helping current and former players.

And TG4 viewers were quick to pay tribute to the corner forward as they noted the heavy hits he shipped during his stellar career.

One fan said: "That great Meath team under Sean Boylan needed a touch of class up front to compliment their toughness out the field. Bernard Flynn was all that and more."

"Bernard Flynn took some serious hits!," another added.

One said: "Watching the hits those lads took.. I’m not reinventing the wheel in this but my oul fella always said size has nothing to do with how tough a person is. Bernard Flynn prime example of that."

"Loyalty and trust seems to be massive in all these successful teams will do anything for each other #laochragael another great individual Bernard Flynn and that Meath team".

And last week, the Meath U20 boss claimed that many more than the four inter-county teams caught training are flouting the GAA's Covid-19 rules.

"Honestly, I think the others are very lucky they haven’t been caught," said Flynn.

"There’s four that were and Dublin shocked me more than anybody else, I was just so surprised to see that.

"I know there’s more than that doing it - and they’re still doing it.

"That’s their own business. It personally wouldn’t bother me if I was a manager and someone else was doing it.

"But I’m shocked only four have been caught at this stage from the amount that are actually doing it.

"The rules are there and to see a county with 30 or 40 people and management brazenly training not even in pods of three or four, doing it so openly, you are just leaving yourself open.

"And yes, I think it has done a bit of damage. Those people who love to sit on the fence and maybe bash the GAA, they are really having a field day with it.

"But they’ve also done damage with the government - and NPHET more so than anything else.

"My inside sources tell me that NPHET have a massive issue with the GAA because of that and the celebrating after club matches last year are the reasons we are not back yet."
