TV viewers delighted with latest instalment of Davy's Toughest Team

TV viewers were delighted with the latest instalment of Davy's Toughest Team on RTE last night.

The series sees Davy Fitzgerald train a group of seven men for the toughest challenge of their lives - climbing to the base camp of Mount Everest.

Filmed before the Covid-19 pandemic, the show features young men grappling with issues like drug addiction, isolation, homelessness, unemployment and mental health challenges.

Monday's show captured the effects of coronavirus when the country was placed into lockdown for the first time last year.

It became clear by July that the trip to Mount Everest would not go ahead and Davy had to break the news to his devastated team.

Once again, the show received rave reviews online.

One person said: "So much to be learned from Davy and these young lads. There is always a reason beyond people's self doubt and insecurity and Davy Fitz is a master at getting to the core of that. Great show."

Another added: "I honestly think the Dept' of Education should offer Davy a role of sorts to go around to our secondary schools (when fully operational again) and talk to the students of today. The man talks, they listen!!"

Someone else commented: "This show is one of the best concepts on tv. You can see the difference in the lads. Davy is some man altogether....everyone needs a davy!"

Another post read: "Loving #Davystoughestteam great to see lads with tough upbringings overcoming doubts and issues and enjoying themselves. The type of motivational TV we need right now!"

One other person tweeted: "Davy Fitz is doing a remarkable job with those young lads. He has a genuine interest in there welfare Life changing!"
