The Disappearance of Jay Slater

9pm, Channel 4

“I will never understand why social media detectives were totally destroying people’s lives. It’s been absolute torture.” When 19-year-old Jay Slater’s body was found in Tenerife after he went missing last year, his family and the authorities had to uncover the facts amid a global storm of YouTube and TikTok conspiracy theories. This sobering documentary follows his mum and dad as they search for answers, with access to Jay’s postmortem, funeral and inquest. Hollie Richardson

Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain

8.20pm, BBC Two

Join the actor and proud Mexican American on this eight-part exploration of her ancestral homelands. Starting with “la hora del vermut” in a cool Barcelona neighbourhood, Eva soon proves she is to Spain as Stanley Tucci is to Italy – a glamorous gourmand with charm to spare. Ellen E Jones

Rob and Rylan’s Passage to India

9pm, BBC Two

The delightful duo embark on the final leg of their tour – heading to Varanasi, where Hindus go to cleanse their souls before dying. They meet a guru, spend time with monks, contemplate their relationship with death and share a profound moment or two. But first they stop at a sex temple. HR

Coldwater

9pm, ITV1

Despite the rising bodycount, this psychological thriller about bad neighbours in a rural Scottish town has a welcome streak of black humour. As the endgame looms, conflict-averse incomer John (Andrew Lincoln) is ready to throw in the towel. His wild-eyed tormentor Tommy (Ewen Bremner) is spiralling too. Concludes on Monday. Graeme Virtue

Big Brother: Live Launch

9pm, ITV2

The rebooted original reality show must be going down well, as it launches a third series. AJ Odudu and Will Best are also back on hosting duties – and the big rumour is that social media star Jack “Ibiza Final Boss” Kay (Google him) will be one of this year’s housemates. Each nightly visit to the house will also be followed by Late & Live. HR

Catching My Stalker

10.20pm, Channel 4

It’s a sad fact that one in five women and one in 11 men in the UK will experience stalking in their lifetime – yet the conviction rate remains under 2%. In this upsetting documentary, young Watford couple Grace and Daryl have begun recording their own footage and evidence, after giving up on the police. Ali Catterall

Film choice

American Fiction, 10pm, BBC Two

Jeffrey Wright can generally do no wrong, and that’s certainly the case in this knife-edge satire from Cord Jefferson. Sourced from Percival Everett’s acclaimed novel Erasure, it gleefully rips into the US publishing industry’s narrow-minded stance towards Black lives and readers. Wright’s stuffy academic and writer Monk doesn’t sell many books until he adopts a “gangsta” persona and pens a stereotypical potboiler, My Pafology, full of gangs, crack and violent families. But can he square his new success, and family commitments, with his morals? Simon Wardell
