Daisy May Cooper is on sparky form in this edgy comedy about strong-willed, warm-hearted but down-on-her-luck single mum Costello Jones. As the series opens, she and her young daughter Iris (Fleur Tashjian) are made homeless, but when Costello embarks on a frenzied bid to find them a new place to stay, she ends up in more hot water. To make matters even trickier, she is trying to steer clear of her violent upper-class best pal Selby (Poldark’s Jack Farthing), who has just come out of prison. But could Selby offer her the help she desperately needs – or will he just make matters worse?

Anton & Giovanni's Adventures in Sicily, 9 pm, BBC One/iPlayer (box set)

The Strictly stars’ short but very sweet trip around Sicily concludes as the pair head for Palermo, the island’s capital, where Giovanni grew up. Along the way, they have a go at making pasta, spend the night in a monastery and stop for a round of golf. But  a clear highlight features Giovanni introducing Anton to his favourite offal-based street food – and Anton’s subsequent conversion to veganism. The series ends in the most heart-warming way imaginable as Rose Ayling-Ellis returns, along with Anton and Giovanni’s families, for a party to celebrate Giovanni’s birthday. Have plenty of tissues to hand for Giovanni’s beautiful heart-to-heart with his proud papa….

Long Lost Family: What Happened Next, 9 pm, ITV1

The emotional reunions on Long Lost Family are never the end of the story and there are plenty more questions to be answered as Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell return with the heart-warming follow-up show tonight. First, Joselyn from West Yorkshire, who had a joyous meeting with her half-brother James, is now eager to learn about her birth father and a DNA match leads to some wonderful news of another sibling… Meanwhile, Roy from Wigan has grown very close to half-brother Dan and half-sister Jo, but can they help him to come to terms with the grief he feels at never knowing their late mother Janet?

Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, 8 pm, BBC One

(Image credit: BBC/Darlow Smithson Productions/Steve Renney)

Five 1930s brick-built beach chalets in Eastbourne are the next project for the remaining contestants. Each cabin is only 2.5sq m, so judge Michelle Ogundehin is looking for ingenious storage as well as style. Among the briefs for the diminutive designs are: a Caribbean vibe for a watersports enthusiast; a couple who want an art deco gin club theme; and an NHS-owned cabin with a spec to create a calming retreat for A&E staff. Michelle can’t emphasise enough she wants ambitious opulence, so who better than guest judge Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to help her?

Inside the Factory, 8 pm, BBC Two

As a nation, we love Jaffa Cakes, spending approximately £88 million on the chocolatey, zesty, spongy treats every year. In the first of a new series exploring supermarket staples, Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey visit the McVitie’s factory in Stockport, Greater Manchester – which makes a staggering 1.4 billion Jaffa Cakes each year – to follow the journey from batter to baking, and to finally settle the debate: is a Jaffa Cake a cake or a biscuit? The thorny issue will finally be put to rest – and if you aren’t craving a Jaffa Cake after watching this, we’ll eat our hat!
