Best TV shows on TV tonight

The Tower II: Death Message, 9 pm, ITV1

The first series of The Tower saw Gemma Whelan’s experienced DS Sarah Collins in pursuit of Tahirah Sharif’s rookie PC Lizzie Adama, on the run after witnessing a police colleague and teenage girl plunge to their deaths from a tower block. In this long-awaited second series, the two are thrown together once more.

Over four consecutive nights, it follows Sarah as she’s told to reopen the cold case of a missing girl, while Lizzie investigates a separate domestic violence complaint. When both cases collide, Sarah and Lizzie cross paths again… This is another thrill-ride of a drama that towers above the competition.

Starstruck season 3, from 10 pm, BBC Three

Rose Matafeo’s whip-smart romantic comedy returns for a third series, and Jessie (Matafeo) is still in love with Hollywood star boyfriend Tom (Nikesh Patel)… for about 30 seconds, until a montage skips ahead two years and reveals they have broken up. Jessie’s still adjusting to being single, and panics when she learns Tom will be attending the reception of her best friend Kate’s (Emma Sidi) wedding. (‘He’s famous!’ Kate insists. ‘It’s good for morale!’) The scene is set for an awkward reunion, but can the two of them adjust to being amicable exes – or is there still a spark there?

Remarkable Places to Eat, 9 pm, More4

If Angela Hartnett thinks a restaurant is worth a visit, it’s fair to say the Michelin-starred chef probably knows what she’s talking about. She’s taking Fred Sirieix to three great places in Devon, beginning at The Seahorse in Dartmouth, where fantastic ingredients cooked simply win over Fred. ‘Are we in heaven?’ he muses.

They also sample Exmouth crab at The River Exe Café, a floating restaurant which has somehow overcome all the logistical issues which that implies. And, finally, they head to Gather in Totnes, which specialises in locally sourced and foraged ingredients, serving, in Fred’s words, ‘food to get excited about’.

Marcus Wareing’s Tales From A Kitchen Garden season 2, 6:30 pm, BBC Two

Marcus Wareing’s peace is shattered by some noisy arrivals in this charming returning series which follows the popular TV chef as he tries his hand at farming and growing. Guard geese join his small-holding in East Sussex, but seem to prefer the sound of their own honking to actually protecting the duck pond. Elsewhere this week, Marcus visits local tomato, potato and wasabi experts for tips on expanding his now-flourishing kitchen garden, and steps up his rewilding efforts to increase the bee population. Salt-marsh lamb ribs, charred gazpacho and a delicious vegetarian feast are all on the menu.
