Agnieszka Holland crafts a powerful biopic-cum-thriller out of the real-life exploits of Welsh journalist Gareth Jones, who in the 1930s interviewed Hitler, then headed to Moscow and exposed the horrors of Stalin’s policy of genocide by starvation in the Soviet Ukraine.
