Can You Keep a Secret?

9.30pm, BBC One
Dawn French continues to be a hoot as Debbie, a woman who’s pretending her husband has died for the insurance payout. But now the cat’s out of the bag: her police officer daughter-in-law Neha (Mandip Gill) knows that William (Mark Heap) is alive and demands they give the money back. Meanwhile, somebody else has worked out the scam and has used a very uninspiring font in a blackmail letter. But Debbie has zero intention of cowering to any threats. Great fun. Hollie Richardson

Landscape Artist of the Year 2026

8pm, Sky Arts
St James’s Park offers another octet of artists the chance to paint water, trees and, in the distance, about a fifth of Buckingham Palace. The more unusual approaches include a surreal interpretation based on AI, a vibes-based painting by a psychologist and a morass of greyish brown. Jack Seale

Digging for Britain

9pm, BBC Two
To the south of Britain, where archaeological sites include an Anglo-Saxon cemetery in Kent, an 18th-century slipway on the New Forest coast and underneath Trinity College, Oxford. There are also iron age objects unearthed in Herne Bay, which are so delicate they are block-lifted out and X-rayed – but what hides inside? HR

Grantchester

9pm, ITV1
Is witchcraft afoot in Robson Green’s cosy crime drama? This is the question that Alphy and Geordie wrestle with as they visit a foundling home. Although Geordie finds himself struggling with something more troubling: the possibility of his partner’s guilt. Alexi Duggins

Patience

9pm, Channel 4
“Rock star archaeologist” Samuel Henry stands poised to declare a shocking revelation about a Viking runestone when he suddenly drops dead in the middle of a symposium. As Patience and Frankie investigate, the same fate befalls his colleague. Meanwhile, Patience tells Elliot what she needs from a relationship, in the form of a densely printed contract. Ali Catterall

Surgeons: A Matter of Life Or Death

9pm, Channel 5
Kidneys that have become the size of watermelons and a rare tumour growing at speed in a nose and cheek are operated on in this week’s nerve-racking episode of the fly-on-the-wall hospital series. Can the surgeons remove them? HR

Film choice

Polite Society (Nida Manzoor, 2023), 9pm, Film4
The creator of We Are Lady Parts, Nida Manzoor, brings that show’s vivid punk energy to her feature film debut, a punchy comic thriller. Priya Kansara is Ria, a teenage British Muslim martial arts fanatic who dreams of becoming a stunt performer. Her older sister, Lena (Ritu Arya), is an art school dropout who somehow attracts the attention of wealthy, eligible geneticist Salim (Akshay Khanna). Aghast at Lena abandoning her artistic dreams for an arranged marriage, Ria plots sabotage. Can she find anything wrong with Salim – or is this just a bad case of sibling jealousy? Simon Wardell
