999: What Happened Next

10.05pm, Channel 4
In Suffolk, a man fatally stabs a suspected thief outside his house. In Hertfordshire, a car belonging to a woman reported for drug dealing is found on fire. Nothing is straightforward in either case, as police find in the first episode of this new run of the 999 series. Through footage and interviews with officers and victims, they unravel details of stalking, lies and a lead back to someone under a protection order. Hollie Richardson

Killer in the House: The Murders of Lesley Howell and Trevor Buchanan

9pm, ITV1
More than three decades after the crime that stunned Northern Ireland, this documentary tells the story, including – for the first time – interviews with the Howell children. They grew up, raised by their dentist father, believing their mother had taken her own life. The truth, however, is much darker and, it seems, still emerging. Ellen E Jones

24 Hours in Police Custody

9pm, Channel 4
We are taken inside the investigation of Carson Grimes, one of the UK’s worst serial paedophiles – who is already serving a life sentence. After a flood of new accusations, officers launch a fresh inquiry and are inundated with tales of previous victims, as well as a troubling discovery of bones near his old home. Alexi Duggins

Dark Winds

9pm, U&Alibi
In the season finale of the 70s-set Navajo cop drama, adapted from Tony Hillerman’s book series, the NTP’s train station stakeout may finally yield results. But not before Joe (Zahn McClarnon) and Gordo (A Martinez) have a deep ’n’ meaningful from their hiding spot. It’s a brief moment of reflective calm before the action ratchets up. EEJ

Things You Should Have Done

10.15pm, BBC Three
Lucia Keskin’s deadpan sitcom just gets funnier, especially with the addition of Bridget Christie as a dodgy therapist. Shocked at being called “thick”, Chi (Keskin) decides to tick “get a GCSE” off her life to-do list and enrols at Ramsgate College (well, she breaks in). HR
