The Hunting Party

9pm, U&Alibi
There’s an explosive start to this US action thriller when a bomb rips apart a secret underground prison in Wyoming – and the nation’s most dangerous serial killers escape. It’s up to former FBI profiler Rebecca Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) to come back into the fold and form a team of soldiers, spies and special agents to track down and catch the criminals, especially the notorious murderer Richard Harris. Hollie Richardson

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators

8pm, U&Alibi
More from the soapy mismatched-detectives drama, with Jo Joyner’s former hairdresser Lu and Mark Benton’s ex-copper Frank. There’s a footie buzz in the air as Frank goes undercover to assist Avon FC’s coach, who says somebody is trying to sabotage the team. HR

The Hack

9pm, ITV1
Jack Thorne’s phone-hacking drama gains momentum as the endgame approaches. In this fifth episode, Nick Davies (David Tennant) gets the New York Times on side. But there are more problems for Dave Cook (an excellently understated, gently simmering Robert Carlyle) as he endures a difficult day in court. Phil Harrison

BBC New Comedy Awards 2025

9pm, BBC Three

The annual search for the next big name in comedy is at Birmingham’s Hockley Social Club. Sarah Keyworth hosts, and Aurie Styla, Lindsey Santoro and Fatiha El-Ghorri judge the five comedians who are dying to make them laugh. They have only got five minutes each for a shot at reaching the final. HR

A Remarkable Place to Die

9pm, U&Drama
The New Zealand cop drama with imposing views of the Remarkables mountain range concludes. Prodigal detective Anais is agonisingly close to uncovering the truth about the deaths of her father and sister. But first she must wrap up her current murder case: a French firework maestro killed by a suspiciously premature blast. Graeme Virtue

New Zealand’s Best Homes With Phil Spencer

10pm, Channel 4
If it ain’t broke … The perennial presenter of property shows is back touring some of the most desirable homes in the southern hemisphere – from luxurious mountain retreats in the South Island to architectural wonders in the country’s biggest city, Auckland. Prepare to be jealous. Alexi Duggins

Film choice

The Haunting (Robert Wise, 1963), 12.10am, BBC Two

Robert Wise’s spookily effective adaptation of the Shirley Jackson novel is an object lesson in how less can be more in horror. Psychic researcher Dr John Markway (Richard Johnson) goes to stay at a reputedly haunted house with the owner’s nephew, Luke (Russ Tamblyn), plus Claire Bloom’s bohemian Theodora (dressed by Mary Quant) and Julie Harris’s fragile Eleanor, both of whom are sensitive to the supernatural. Cue bangs in the night, disembodied voices and incipient insanity. Simon Wardell

Live sport

Gymnastics World Championships, 1pm, BBC One Day four in Jakarta, with Britain’s world vault champion Jake Jarman due to compete on Friday.

Champions League football: Eintracht Frankfurt v Liverpool, 7pm, TNT Sports 1 Chelsea v Ajax is on TNT Sports 2.
