Janet has lost her family, livelihood and left hand. Samuel has gambled away his family’s life savings. They both still have dogs, though, and meet while walking them on a beach – where they discover a boat with two dead bodies and huge bags of cocaine in it. Daisy Haggard and Paterson Joseph are a great onscreen pair, as the two strangers decide to steal the stash and face the consequences together, which include a violent crime ring leader. With the Williams brothers (behind hit series The Tourist) on writing and directing duties, it’s a bold, genre-twisting thriller with dark humour that might be an acquired taste for some but an intriguing treat for others. Another week, another former politician reaches new lows with a reality TV stint. Then again, it admittedly might be satisfying to see Nigel Farage chew on a kangaroo testicle. Joining him in the jungle: Jamie Lynn Spears (Britney’s sister), First Dates romancer Fred Sirieix, actor Danielle Harold and the Guardian’s restaurant critic Grace Dent. HR

This week’s gobsmacking nature moment has never been filmed in the wild before: a bird that pumps up its own multicoloured bib and a pair of horns during mating season (it quickly deflates when the female flies off). Elsewhere in this episode about forests, more than 100 types of weird but wonderful treehoppers make a cacophony of sound. HR
Liz Bonnin’s Wild Caribbean

The wildlife expert heads to the Lesser Antilles, known as the Jewels of the Caribbean, for the latest stretch of this colourful tour. Taking a boat from Union, she goes on patrol to help save the tiny Union Island gecko, then on St Vincent, she goes on a hike to one of the most active volcanoes in the region, La Soufrière. HR
Bill Bailey’s Australian Adventure

Bailey is loving Western Australia, in terms of both the raw beauty of the landscapes and the opportunities it offers for weird comedy. This week, he is awed by a whale shark and a canyon, while getting great bits out of wild emu – stalking him as he talks to camera – and the high number of bins in Northampton. Jack Seale

This startling, poignant and often harrowing true-crime story continues, as Stephen Pandos attempts to uncover the truth behind his sister’s 1987 disappearance, even as it threatens to destroy his family. In this penultimate episode, a previously undiscovered pile of teenage jottings reveal Jennifer’s precarious state of mind at the time of her disappearance. Phil Harrison

Here’s an afternoon double bill of five-star weepies starring the great Bette Davis. Now, Voyager from 1942 is preceded by this 1939 film, in which Davis’s vivacious socialite Judith is diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour that will kill her within a year. Her doctor Frederick (George Brent) decides not to tell her but, with him falling in love with her, struggles to keep the secret. As they get closer, both are forced to answer the question of what it is to die well, with Davis running the gamut from joy to despair as the reality of her situation becomes apparent. Simon Wardell
