TV star Lucy Kennedy says celeb architect Dermot Bannon helped her decide to buy her dream home

TV star Lucy Kennedy has revealed Room to Improve host Dermot Bannon helped snap up her dream home.

The Living With Lucy host has just moved into her new home in Dún Laoghaire in Dublin and revealed the top celebrity architect gave her advice as she was house hunting with her husband Richard over the last 12 months.

But Lucy said she won’t be asking Bannon to help with any renovations.

“We moved into our new house three weeks ago. We’re still in Dún Laoghaire. There’s still bits and pieces to do but it’s lovely," she said.

"It’s where I grew up. We moved in as I was finishing writing my third book, filming a documentary about Riley and moving to Classic Hits.

“I wouldn’t put him in that position to ask him to do it. I just wouldn’t because then he would feel obliged.

“But every house we have viewed in the last year he has given me his feedback so literally he would get a ping from myhome.ie.

“He would write back these lists so in fairness he was on the house hunt with me but via phone.”

The Classic Hits presenter said she was delighted when he gave her his seal of approval to buy their new home.

“He’s approved. He said 'great location, needs a bit of work but love it.'

“He is brilliant. He just gets it."

But she rubbished any rumours that he may appear on her new series of Living With Lucy this year – as she thinks he doesn’t want to live with her.

“I would love to live with Dermot. Oh god, no but does anybody want to live with me? Eventually they give in. If you ask someone often enough. They’ll give in,” she said jokingly.

Her Virgin Media series will be back on our screens in September and Lucy is hopeful she will be living with guests instead of lodging with them like last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are currently in discussions about whether it will be Living or Lodging. Either way, one of them is coming with a bang in September. We start filming in July.

“I don’t know if I’m totally honest (about being comfortable flying to the UK) and this is why we’re going to wait and see until things pan out. Nobody is going to do anything if anyone is vaguely uncomfortable.

“Once everything is ok, well then we will go for it. But Living With Lucy could just as easily be in Ireland and not necessarily involve travel.

“I think if you were to ask people on the street which do they prefer, I think they would say the ‘Living’ so we’ll try and do the ‘Living’.

“Lodging With Lucy still rated extremely well and I’m delighted and so chuffed that people had such a huge appetite for it but I think ‘Living’ would be the stronger model so we would try and do that but maybe it is a case of ‘Living’ in Ireland.”
