TV star Lisa Cannon sets sights on cracking US as she undergoes liver detox to lose weight

TV star Lisa Cannon has set her sights on cracking the US as she quits booze and undergoes a liver detox to shed the pounds.

The Dubliner admitted turning 40 has made it tougher to lose weight.

Lisa told the Irish Mirror: “I don’t feel older yet but I’m trying to eat healthily and as time goes on stuff is sticking to places where it didn’t used to stick.

“A few years ago when you tried to unstick the stickiness, you got much further with it.

“I’m like, ‘What, it’s still hanging around?’

“They don’t go away as easily as you want them to, which is a real shame.

“It’s only when you take your foot off the gas and think, ‘I’m going to get rid of this now,’ and you can’t that it’s a problem.

“I’ve to work twice as hard, so that’s disappointing.”

The brunette beauty revealed she has quit alcohol to get into shape.

She said: “I’ve abstained from the booze so I can get into a bikini.

“Anyway, I don’t like the hangovers anymore. The juice just ain’t worth the squeeze, that’s the problem.

“I always order a takeaway and I don’t want my days to be written off.”

Former partying A-list celebs are flying the flag for a healthier way of life, inspiring Lisa to do the same.

She added: “You look at Kate Moss, all the people from Primrose Hill, you look at Meg Matthews.

“They used to be the wildchilds of the 90s, you watch that generation and they’re all healthy living – going for liver detoxes.

“That’s what I’m going to do, a liver detox soon. I know it’s going to be good for me.

“You drink apple juice for six days and use Epsom salts – it’s like a colonic for your liver.”

Best known for her Box Office entertainment show on Virgin Media One, Lisa wowed audiences Stateside covering the Game Of Thrones premiere in Belfast.

And she is hopeful the US network Xtra TV will ask her to cover more events.

She explained: “I’ve met representatives from Warner Brothers, NBC and Universal. It was amazing in many ways – you go and see where Access Hollywood, E News and Xtra TV are made, it blew me away.

“After the Game Of Thrones footage did so well, they’re keen to get me back on air in the States, so it’s massive.

“I’d love there to be more. You just have to take every big job as it comes.”
