TV star farmer suffers life-changing accident after horrific tractor blunder

A popular farmer from Devon, who recently featured in a BBC1 show, has suffered a life-changing accident.

Fred Collins was injured after trapping his arm when the jack failed while changing the tyre on his tractor.

According to reports, his arm was stuck for what was described as "a considerable time".

Fred, whose farm is based in the outskirts of Honiton, was warned he may be left with only 20 per cent of his arm fully functioning.

The full extent of his horrific life-changing injury is yet to be revealed.

However it will no doubt impact the farm's future with the devastating news.

Fred's beloved farm featured on BBC One series The Farmers' Country Showdown last month.

Viewers of the show have been keen to help the farmer since he was injured.

His friend Jules Giles, whose son used to work for Fred, has set up an online fundraiser and it has already raised more than £1,500.

She said: "Only a couple of weeks ago he was on TV showing how hard he works on the farm and now this has happened.

"He is obviously currently not working and is not getting any money so I asked him if he would mind me setting up a fundraiser to help and he said, 'that would be really nice'.

"If anyone watched the BBC One show recently they will know how the family as a unit work so hard to make that farm work. Times are hard for everyone but please give generously and help make things this little bit easier at this horrendous time for the family.

"We all wish Fred a speedy recovery and by looking at all the well wishes on social media, it shows how much Fred and his family are thought of by everyone."
