A major TV actor has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing five teenage boys, according to reports.
The Sun newspaper says that a well known soap star was held for several hours by an unnamed police force as officers visited his home over the claims.
The actor, who can not be named, has denied the offences and is currently on bail.
Officers reportedly visited the actor’s home over the alleged abuse and they were arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.
Police seized computers and documents as they searched for evidence, with the unnamed star’s family being left stunned by the arrest.
He is also understood to be shocked by the historic allegations, which date back to the 1990s, when the actor featured alongside “some of Britain’s most famous names in a string of top shows,” says The Sun.
A police spokesman told the newspaper: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of historical child sex offences involving five victims.
“Officers investigating allegations relating to the 1990s detained a man.
“He was arrested on suspicion of several sexual offences relating to five men who were teenage boys at the time of the alleged offending.
“He has been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue.”
