TV reporter apologetic over Adele interview blunder

An Australian TV host missed out on an important interview with singing superstar Adele over a missed email.

Matt Doran flew to London with a crew to interview the Hello hitmaker earlier this month ahead of her first album release in six years.

But the journalist says he missed an email containing a preview copy of 30 and Sony subsequently canned the footage reports the Mirror.

The host was left 'mortified and unequivocally apologetic' by the mistake.

"It was an oversight but not a deliberate snub," he told The Australian newspaper.

"This is the most important email I have ever missed."

Australian media have claimed that the trip to London with two colleagues cost the network £500,000.

Initial reports state that Adele had stormed out but Matt said: “In fact, it was the polar opposite. What was meant to be 20 minutes was extended to 29 minutes.

“The majority of the chat was about the album. I told her: 'I’ve only had the privilege of hearing Easy on Me, but not the other tracks.'"

He also said he wasn't formally suspended from Sunrise after this was claimed in several news reports.

Ahead of the interview Matt shared a snap on Instagram of himself and his colleagues posing in London.

He captioned the photo: “Back at it with the boys! This one is going to be pretty special.”

One follower nickerslachmund said: "Good on you for your honesty."

And paula_burkeburke wrote: "At least he was honest. He could have just said how much he loved it!"
