TV presenter Sile Seoige has no regrets after going against coronavirus travel restrictions

TV presenter Sile Seoige has no regrets after going against coronavirus travel restrictions.

The presenter travelled to Clare for an event on Sunday despite travel restrictions not being lifted until the next day.

She addressed her decision to travel to the event on Instagram saying "I don't regret it"

She said: "Back in Dublin, as some of you may have seen on my stories, I was in West Clare, this morning for a very special event.

"Before I go any further because I have got a good few messages that have made just take a breath and just sit with it for a second because I knew this would happen and perhaps I should've come on sooner and said this is what I was doing.

"I am fully aware that it's not until tomorrow that the country fully opens up in terms of us being able to travel outside our counties."

The presenter is from Galway but is currently living in Dublin

She added: "I absolutely believe in following guidelines, I think the government have played a blinder.

"Obviously people have lost their lives, unfortunately they have and it's impacted a lot of families in Ireland.

"But I suppose when you look at what's happening in other countries, Ireland has done really well and I think we've all done really well and I know that now there's a danger of us becoming complacent.

"Just because I travelled sooner than I was meant to and I know, I put my hand up and admit that I was going against what was advised.

The presenter asked people not to confuse her travelling a day earlier with her not being careful or prioritising safety.

She admitted that her lack of regret was due to having a "tough" time during lockdown.

She said: "I'm absolutely mindful, I absolutely care but we made a decision and I don't regret it."

She explained how it was nice to see her parents who she hasn't seen since March.

She said: "It's been tough, it's been tough on them, it's been tough on us.

"And I know we are like lots of people who have been separated from family, I know I'm not unique in saying that.

"I know that some of you are watching this and are still separated from your parents if they're alive.

"I get it, I get that it's tough, that it's triggering, I could be triggering people right now with my words. Please know that I don't mean to.

"But for us as a family, it was the right decision.
