TV on DVD: 'Twin Peaks'; 'South Park'

TWIN PEAKS: LIMITED EVENT SERIES. The three faces of Kyle MacLachlan slide together like a chevron jigsaw puzzle on this Blu-ray's awesome hard-board box _ although its foldout insides will drive some fans mad with those slip-in disc pockets. Being picky comes with the territory of auteurs David Lynch and Mark Frost, back on the scene of their original 1990 TV fever dream, in this year's 18-part Showtime continuation.

Extras: Six-plus bonus hours, many equally dreamlike, include 3 Blu-ray exclusive half-hours _ cast on-location rumination, and a pair of Red Room shooting shorts. On both Blu-ray and DVD is idiosyncratic 10-part series "Impressions," tracking Lynch's production process. Also: Comic-Con panel, "Phenomenon" look-backs, Lynch-produced promos, more.

List price $65 Blu-ray or DVD, out Tuesday from CBS.

SOUTH PARK (BLU-RAY SETS: SEASON 1-2-3-4-5). Early seasons of Cartman-and-kids finally hit Blu-ray, with pre-HD episodes from 1997 to 2001 reanimated in high-def widescreen. (Seasons 6 to 11 due on Blu-ray Dec. 19.) Season 1 includes full-episode commentaries, originally only on synchronized-play CDs, while Season 2 loses the documentary offered in DVD release; $40 Blu-ray / per season, Comedy Central.
