Fans couldn't wait to see this dark-toned '90s classic sharper than ever on high-def Blu-ray in complete form (85 episodes), as a numbered limited edition, with goodies like spinoff films ("Mask of the Phantasm," "Subzero"), Pocket Pop mini-figurines (Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn) and lenticular cards (seven eyepoppers). Even digital copy! Then fans saw the product, in a flimsy outer box likely to arrive crunched, with discs slid inside cardboard book pages, and digital episodes in mere standard-def. At least the box contains a sturdier sleeve to shelve the 12-disc mini-book, along with season-set extras and a new 100-minute study of the series' dynamic style and adult appeal. 'MACGYVER' and 'CHARMED.' High-def first seasons of the originals from the '80s (Richard Dean Anderson) and '90s (Shannen Doherty) will delight fans of Anderson's verb-inspiring actioner, with its new remaster light-years sharper than old syndication videotapes.
