TV host Susanna Reid bids emotional goodbye to Piers Morgan as he leaves GMB for good

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has bid an emotional farewell to her former co-star Piers Morgan as he left the show for good.

Piers stepped down from his role on the ITV programme after a row over his comments about Meghan Markle and the interview she and Prince Harry gave to Oprah Winfrey.

He refused to apologise for saying he didn't believe Meghan really struggled with her mental health and suicidal thoughts while she was a major part of the Royal family, and instead chose to leave his job behind, reports The Mirror.

As he packed his dressing room up and shared a picture of the boxes ready for removal - overlooked by a cardboard cut-out of Susanna - the 55-year-old wrote: "Goodbye, Good Morning Britain! (I think I’ll leave the cardboard cut-out, would be a bit creepy to take that home...)"

Susanna replied with an emotional goodbye, writing: "End of an era. Thank you for five incredible years of rows, rants & reasons to eye-roll."

A fan replied to Susanna's comment suggesting she deserved a medal for working alongside Piers for so long.

The 50-year-old wrote in response: "There are many occasions when we haven’t agreed.

"But @piersmorgan has also been supportive and generous with advice. It wouldn’t have worked otherwise."

So far, Piers has been replaced on the shows by a number of people, including Ben Shephard, who is expected to take over his role until at least September.

ITV bosses are yet to announce who will replace Piers on a more permanent basis.

Following Piers' comments about Meghan, which saw him clash on air with Alex Beresford and storm off the set, a petition was launched to see him sacked.

Piers laughed it off before later announcing he was quitting the show. But since then, another petition is calling for his return.

It's racked up hundreds of thousands of signatures from fans who are keen to see him back on their TVs every morning.
