TV finance commentator joins board of Murray Income Trust

Murray Income Trust plc has appointed financial journalist and commentator Merryn Somerset Webb as an independent non-executive director.

Somerset Webb is the editor-in-chief of UK personal finance magazine Money Week, writes for the Financial Times and comments regularly on financial matters on radio and television.

She is a director of several charities as well as a non-executive director of two other investment trusts, Baillie Gifford Shin Nippon PLC and Montanaro European Smaller Companies Trust.

The American-born, Cambridge-educated journalist will take on the role with the Aberdeen Standard Investments-run trust from August.

Neil Rogan, Murray Income Trust chairman, said: "I would like to welcome Merryn to the board. She brings a wealth of investment trust experience as well as a particular knowledge of, and interest in, developing the links between investment trusts and their current and potential retail investor base."

Merryn Somerset Webb currently does not have an interest in any shares in the Murray Income Trust.

In the six months to the end of December 2018, the £560 million Murray Income Trust outperformed the FTSE amid falling stock markets. It aims to generate steady long-term growth and invests mainly in UK equities.
