TV drama about collapse of Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond's political partnership in the works

A TV drama charting the collapse of the political partnership between Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond is in the works.

Synchronicity Films in Glasgow have taken out an option on the book 'Break-Up: How Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon Went to War'.

They have described the project as an active development, according to an article in The Times.

The company confirmed it is seeking a writer to develop a script that will examine the feud between First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her predecessor Alex Salmond. A report suggests the story has the making of a 'House of Cards-style drama'.

Breaking Bad star Laura Fraser has been touted for a lead role.

The show will be based on the book written by David Clegg and Kieran Andrews.

The political drama is hoping to align itself alongside other dramas such as Brexit: The Uncivil War, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch as Dominic Cummings.

Claire Mundell, creative director at Synchronicity Films, told The Times: “This story touches on so many things we as a society grapple with today.

"At its core it is an exploration of a universal story – the breakdown of a relationship between mentor and mentee as their once-united ideologies fracture.”
