DEHRADUN: Police on Monday booked a 26-year-old tutor for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her.
The two are believed to have met when the girl went for English tuitions at a coaching centre where the accused was teaching. The survivor has accused the man of impregnating her and forcing her to abort the child. The man has been charged under section 376 (rape) of the IPC.
Police officials said that after learning about the girl’s pregnancy, the man promised to marry her, but later went back on his word and facilitated her abortion. SHO of the police station, where the case has been filed, told TOI that the man along with his father also visited the survivor’s house and threatened to kill her. “The accused is still at large,” the SHO said.
