Turntables and home theatres on offer as part of Nottingham audio-visual firm's administration

Turntables, wireless speakers and home theatre systems will be up for grabs as stock from audio-visual stores Superfi and Nottingham HiFi Centre go to a public auction.

The shops' parent company, Eddy's (Nottingham), went into administration last month after shutters were brought down on the two Nottingham venues and Superfi's five other national branches.

Eddy's had operated since 1944 and its Superfi chain also had branches in Manchester, Birmingham, Derby, Lincoln and London.

M1 Insolvency was brought in to oversee the administration process and a spokesman said: "The administrator would advise that he is currently dealing with the company’s assets and formulating the proposals to the company creditors."

Officials at auction firm Eddisons have now confirmed they have been instructed to sell off all the company's assets in a public online auction, which will be hosted over two days in April. The dates will be announced in the near future.

This is where Nottingham comes in the list of the 1,000 best (and worst) shopping districts in Britain

More than 1,400 items will be on sale including surround sound systems, streaming music players and bluetooth speakers. In addition to the company's stock, there will be cash tills, printers and boxes of tapes for sale.

Superfi in Nottingham was based in Market Street and the HiFi Centre was located in Alfreton Road.

Following their closures shoppers said they were disappointed but admitted they felt it was "inevitable" those types of shops would close down.
