LAS VEGAS — There were plenty of hilarious and highlight-reel worthy moments in Team A’ja Wilson’s 129-126 win over Team Elena Delle Donne on Saturday, including Aces star Liz Cambage’s dancing and Mercury center Brittney Griner’s multiple dunks.
But let’s get one thing straight: No one can stop Sky guard Allie Quigley from scoring — not even her wife.
Remember when Courtney Vandersloot said she wouldn’t allow Quigley to score when they were both on the court during the All-Star Game?
Well, she was wrong.
Quigley, who started in place of an injured A’ja Wilson, made Vandersloot eat her words, scoring six points when they were both on the court during the third quarter.
After Quigley sank a three, Vandersloot threw her fists in the air.
“I actually underestimated the quickness of her release,” Vandersloot said after the game. “She gets it off fast, and I rested for a second, but now I understand how hard it is to guard her.”
Quigley finished with 14 points, going 2-for-4 from the three-point arc. Vandersloot recorded seven points and eight assists in her first All-Star appearance since her rookie season in 2011.
But those two weren’t the only Sky players worth paying attention to on the court.
Guard Diamond DeShields brought her flashiness and swag to Vegas. She finished with 13 points.
Fever guard Erica Wheeler took home the MVP award after she recorded 25 points and seven assists.
Wheeler, who wasn’t drafted to the WNBA, was emotional when she was presented the trophy. She dedicated it to her late mother.
