Turnovers, a botched replay and Ohio State's depth too much for TCU to overcome

ARLINGTON, Texas _ Ohio State scored two touchdowns on TCU turnovers and held on to beat the Horned Frogs, 40-28, Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.

The No. 4 Buckeyes (3-0) took a 26-21 lead on Dre'Mont Jones' interception on a shuffle pass which he returned 28 yards for a score with just under six minutes left in the third quarter.

Robinson connected with TreVontae Hights for a 51-yard scoring pass to pull TCU to within 33-28 at the end of the third quarter. The Buckeyes came right back to score on Dwayne Haskins' 5-yard run to push the lead back to 40-28. The score capped a 75-yard, eight-play drive.

Ohio State's first touchdown came on a fumble by quarterback Shawn Robinson into the TCU end zone. It was recovered by Davon Hamilton, which gave the Buckeyes a 10-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Replays, however, clearly showed a Buckeyes player touching the ball while his foot was out of bounds, which should have made the play dead, resulting in a safety for Ohio State. Instead, they kept the touchdown, a swing of five points.

After missing a 31-yard field-goal attempt on their first possession, the Horned Frogs (2-1), trailing 10-0, scored touchdowns on two long drives to take a 14-13 lead into halftime. Sewo Olonilua's six-yard scoring run capped an 84-yard drive to cut the deficit to 10-7.

On the Frogs' second possession of the second quarter, Darius Anderson broke free for a 93-yard touchdown run to give TCU a 14-10 lead. It's the longest run in TCU history, passing LaDainian Tomlinson's record 89-yard runs in 1999 and 2000. It's the longest scoring playing ever allowed by Ohio State.

OSU outgained TCU 526 to 511 and held a 29 to 22 first down advantage.
