Sunday's News of the World was filled with a heartrending exclusive with the cancer-stricken Jade Goody across pages 4, 5, 6 and 7. In an emotional interview with Carole Malone, Goody recounted her devastation and her feelings about her "beloved boys". Malone told readers that Jade was looking "beautiful, radiant even" and that "bright, bubbly, indefatigable Jade" has a "resoluteness about her, a strength that is hard to fathom". So it must have been a different Carole Malone who on April 2006 wrote in the Sunday Mirror that Goody had "tumbleweed for brains" and "all the charm of your average slug" and was as "thick as a brick outhouse". A different Malone who wrote on June 11 2006 in the Sunday Mirror that Goody was "the size of a shed?" Or on October 2005 when she opined that Goody was a "talentless vulgarian". The year before Malone told readers Goody needed a "head transplant" and when Jade actually gave birth to her "beloved" son in 2003, Malone told Sunday Mirror readers: "Ex Big Brother inmate Jade Goody has given birth to a bouncing baby boy. One can only hope that little Bobby Jack turns out to be good at sport. With a mum who thinks East Anglia is 'abroad' he won't be going to Oxford." We could go on.
