If you're looking to get the most out of your holiday this year, we've got you covered.
After strict coronavirus restrictions put a stop to many of our plans in 2020, it's likely that Brits will want to make the most of this year, booking as many staycations or holidays abroad as we possibly can.
In a bid to make up for lost time, we've worked out how you can turn 23 days of annual leave into 53 days.
All you have to do is to strategically plan your time off around bank holidays and weekends, particularly in the warmer months of April, May and August.
This year there are eight bank holidays:
- April 2, 2021 - Good Friday
- April 5, 2021 - Easter Monday
- May 3, 2021 - Early May bank holiday
- May 31, 2021 - Spring bank holiday
- August 30, 2021 - Summer bank holiday
- December 27, 2021 - Christmas Day (substitute day)
- December 28, 2021 - Boxing Day (substitute day)
- January 3, 2022 - New Year's Day (substitute day)
Good Friday falls on April 2 and Easter Monday on April 5.
So, if you request to take off March 29, 30, 31 and April 1, 6, 7, 8 and 9, you'll end up with 16 days' holiday.
If you also book four days off after the bank holiday on May 3, you'll get another nine-day break.
Do the same for the bank holiday on May 31, and you'll get May 29 until June 6 off work.
In August you can maximise the August 30 bank holiday by booking off August 31, as well as September 1, 2 and 3 - who doesn't love an extended summer break?
You can also easily bag yourself an exciting 10-day holiday this Christmas by booking just book three days off.
This is because Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day fall on a weekend, which means that December 27, December 28 and January 3 will be substitute bank holidays.
But unfortunately, this plan won't work for everyone, only those who work a normal shift pattern and get weekends and bank holidays off, you'll also need approval from your manager.
Full-time workers in the UK are entitled to 28 days off per year, including bank holidays, but this could vary.
To find out how many days holiday you're entitled to, simply take the number of days a week you work and multiply that number by 5.6.
