Ravel Morrison's once hugely promising continues to stall as he looks for a new club in the January transfer window.
The former Manchester United attacking midfielder is a free agent at the age of 27 having failed to play more than 30 games for one club in his whole career.
He was linked with both Nottingham Forest and Derby County this week, as well as with a move to Turkey.
A move to either club is unlikely, with Turkish football appearing to be his most likely destination with Morrison having already played in Mexico, Italy and Sweden.
He was linked with Hatayspor by Turkish media, with the club tweeting an image of a plane's flight path from London to Istanbul two days ago.
However, they today tweeted to say the unidentified player they hoped to sign had failed his medical.
They said: "Our new transfer, which the public is waiting for, came to Istanbul the other day. The agreement was abandoned because the player could not pass the routine health check. It is respectfully announced to the public."
Morrison had a huge fan in Sir Alex Ferguson, but off the field problems derailed his Manchester United career, although he his attitude has been praised in recent years.
“He possessed as much natural talent as any youngster we ever signed, but kept getting into trouble. It was very painful to sell him… he could have been a fantastic player," Ferguson said. "But, over a period of years, the problems off the pitch continued to escalate and we had little option but to cut the cord.”
