The Turkish parliament's decision to introduce new press offences punishable by prison sentences as part of its anti-terrorism measures has come under attack. The press freedom body, Reporters Without Borders, has written to Turkey's prime minister, Recep Erdogan, condemning the proposal to jail journalists who "disseminate" statements issued by "terrorist organisations." The amendments are sufficiently vague, says RWB, that any journalist producing a contested report or article could be prosecuted. (Via Reporters sans frontières - EUROPE)
