Turkish coach claims Trabzonspor goalkeeper has 'told him' he's signing for Liverpool this summer

Liverpool will sign goalkeeper Uğurcan Cakir when the transfer window opens, according to one of the player’s former coaches.

Cakir was very tentatively linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with Anfield tipped to be a potential destination.

The 24-year-old currently plays for Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, and has been capped twice for the Turkey national team.

The Reds currently have Alisson and Adrian as the main stoppers at the club, with Loris Karius returning from his loan spell at Besiktas.

Liverpool also have young keeper Caoimihn Kelleher, who has proved very capable when called upon in the handful of first-team appearances he has amassed so far.

Despite the Reds already being well stocked between the sticks, Cakir’s former coach, Sadi Tekelioglu, has claimed that the keeper will complete a transfer to Merseyside this summer.

“50 million Euros may be too much for us (Turkish clubs), but not for Europe,” Tekelioglu told Ajannspor.

“Uğurcan had a suitor last season. I gave Uğurcan an idea to go to the teams in England.

“Liverpool will transfer Uğurcan Çakır at the end of the season. Trabzonspor will not say no to Liverpool’s offer. I met with Uğurcan. He told me that Liverpool took care of him.”

Liverpool are already blessed with high quality in the goalkeeping department, so a big-money move for another stopper is probably not high on Jurgen Klopp’s transfer wishlist.
