Turkish archer Gazoz trumps another Aussie

Turkish archer Mete Gazoz has ended another Australian's Tokyo Olympics campaign, outclassing Taylor Worth 7-1 to ease into the quarter-finals.

Gazoz and Worth were locked at 1-1 after a tense opening set, which they both finished with a 10.

But Gazoz, aiming for his first Olympic medal after losing a mixed team bronze-medal match to Mexico a week ago, seized control of the contest with a perfect 30 in Saturday's second set.

Worth's first arrow in the third set drifted beyond the yellow and red circles, putting a major dent in his hopes of a comeback.

Gazoz had no issues closing out the round-of-16 clash, finishing with a total of seven 10s and five nines from his 12 arrows.

Worth was Australia's last man standing in the individual event, which wraps up later on Saturday.

Gazoz, who finished 10th in the ranking-round competition, ousted Queenslander Ryan Tyack 7-3 on Thursday.

Worth and Tyack were part of the men's team that claimed bronze at Rio 2016, but in Tokyo they were eliminated in the opening round by eventual silver medallists Taiwan.
