The nose gear of a Turkish Airlines plane collapsed when it crash-landed during strong winds.
Flight TK467 was flying from Istanbul to Odessa, Ukraine, when the incident occurred.
As the Boeing 737 jet was approaching the runway in heavy crosswinds, it had a rough landing and appears to have skidded off the runway.
As a result of the hard landing, the nose gear of the plane, which includes the front wheels, collapsed.
The plane, which had 134 passengers and flight crew onboard, had already performed a go-around after an unsuccessful first landing attempt.
The plane was safely evacuated, according to the Odessa Airport Authority, and engineers were sent to the narrow-body plane to assess the damage.
The airport commission is investigating the incident, it said.
As a result of the crash, the runway at Odessa airport was temporarily closed.
A spokesperson for Turkish Airlines said: “Turkish Airlines’ TC-JGZ tail-coded aircraft, which had performed TK 467 Istanbul (IST) – Odessa (ODS) flight, suffered a runway excursion during its landing in Odessa International Airport on November 21 2019.
“The aircraft’s all 134 passengers and flight crew are without any injuries and they were safely evacuated from the aircraft, which was performing the flight.
“We respectfully announce that the investigation to uncover the details and reasons of the incident is still ongoing. We wish to convey our deep sadness due to the incident.”
It’s not the first time that a plane had come off the runway during a rough landing.
Earlier this month, an American Airlines flight had a bumpy finish when it slid off the runway at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
The Embraer ERJ145 had just landed after travelling from Piedmont Triad International Airport near Greensboro, North Carolina, on 11 November.
In May, a pilot safely landed a passenger plane without using its front wheels after they failed to deploy on arrival at the airport.
Video footage of the emergency touchdown showed sparks flying from the nose of the aircraft as it slid along the runway in Myanmar.
None of the 82 passengers and seven flight crew were injured during the incident at Mandalay International Airport.
