Turkey is continuing to seek rapprochement with Egypt and Gulf countries in an attempt to mend the strained relations with them.

Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said that Ankara can open a new chapter in relations with Egypt and several Gulf countries – which he did not specify – in order to help reach peace and stability in the region.

On Egypt, he stated that Turkey recognizes its important role in the region, saying that the two sides are continuing talks on several issues.

Ankara is prepared to mend ties with Cairo, he remarked, noting that “Turkey completely understands that Egypt is suffering from economic and security problems.”
