Head of the Turkey-Libya Business Council Murtaza Karanfil announced on Saturday that Turkey’s exports to the north African country have increased in the first four months of 2021 compared to the same time last year to reach $826 million.
Turkey’s overall exports rose by 33.1 percent in the period between January-April, or an increase of 58 percent, almost twice the general average.
The rate of increase in April also rose to 228 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to $263.3 million.
In a statement on bilateral trade relations, Kronfol said Ankara recognizes the impact of the interim government’s interest in Turkish investors in Libya.
He stressed that the positive trend in bilateral relations has been clearly reflected on trade.
The Turkish private sector is excited to complete projects and take part in new ones in Libya, Kronfol stated.
He cited the vital sectors in which businessmen can invest, such as energy, industry, defense, food, recycling and chemicals.
“We expect our investors to play a greater role in these sectors in Libya in the coming period,” Kronfol added.
