Turkey reiterated its support for the Libyan political process as Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu received in Ankara on Tuesday UN envoy Jan Kubis.

The officials discussed the latest developments in the north African country, especially the formation of a new government.

Abdulhamid Dbeibeh has been tasked with forming the cabinet. He is set to submit the lineup to parliament on Monday.

In a tweet, Cavusoglu said talks with Kubis “focused on the latest development linked to the ongoing political process between Libyans and the formation of a new transitional government.”

He stressed that Turkey will continue to support “brotherly” Libya to achieve stability.

Kubis has mobilized national and international support to advance the three-track Libyan-led dialogue process.

He has so far held separate telephone conversations with Dbeibeh and Speaker of the east-based parliament, Aguila Saleh.

He has also paid a visit to Italy, where he met with Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio. He also consulted with a number of regional and international partners, including Greek FM Nikos Dendias, Moroccan FM Nasser Bourita, Russian deputy FM Nikolay Bogdanov, Germany’s Foreign Policy Advisor of the Chancellor, Jan Hecker, Egyptian Assistant FM Nazih Naggary and Mohammed Abubaker, Deputy Secretary-General of NATO, Mircea Geoană, Special Envoy, Frederic Desagneaux of France and the UAE Ambassador to Libya, Salem al-Zaabi.
